The apricot has been cultivating for more than 2000 years. The homeland of the apricot is considered to be the mountainous areas of China. In dried form apricots do not practically lose their useful qualities.

Dried apricots are valued for a high percentage of potassium, organic acids, carotene, phosphorus, calcium, iron and vitamin B5. They contribute not only to a good mood but also strengthen the heart and burns superfluous fat.

The apricot-tree begins to blossom in April – May. The apricot ripens in the middle of June and this is the time for a harvest. The fruits are dried in specially prepared places under the sun during six – eight days. After that the product (i.e. dried apricots) is ready. To prepare one kilogram of dried apricots you need tree or four kilograms of fresh apricots.

In many countries in the west it is usual to take for food only “natural dried apricots”. The “natural dried apricots” mean dried apricots produced without processing with sulphur dioxide.

That is the reason why it has deep-brown colour and a smaller period of storage. Unfortunately, there is no standard of consumption for this product in our country now therefore it is imported in minimum volumes.
